Carol's Sketch #2

Well, I thought how could I miss this opportunity as the prize consists of some thing I love dearly. No it's not chocolate but SUNFLOWERS.

All the papers are free downloads from Papercraft Inspirations website. They were some of the leftovers from a previous card so I thought I make another one. This card is considerably small. The scallops done with a plastic stencil then hand cut, accented, holes done with Provocraft Zision tools , threaded through with narrow black ribbon and lifted with foam pads, heat embossed sitting Tingla with black versacolour pigment ink pad then clear embossing powder on top, coloured with glittery gel pens which I haven't used in ages as I have been experimenting with watercolouring. Some crystal dust on the little heart and wings, sentiment from computer (can't remember the font) and small narrow dark pink ribbon to finish.

Hope you likey :)

Sarah Kay Challenge Sketch Week 8

For this challenge this week, I thought I would slightly tone down with embellishments for a change- sometimes less is more as they say...

All the papers are from HOTP Vintage collection, I love using these papers as the image brings to me that sense of era. My black pen for accenting has been out again. The longer strips have been zig-zagged on the machine (I must say I've got the hang of it on card now). :) to the base card which I have gone over the edges with clear versamark as I wanted to add some brown chalking. Oval is hand cut using a stencil ,the sentiment is hand stamped using Melissa Frances Crystal Clear stamps in red pigment ink which is having it's last usage and looks very pinky in real, My Sweet Lily image is lightly coloured with metallic pencils, mounted on some gold mirri board and raised with foam pads. The gold metal swirl embellishment just finishes it off I thought! Have a nice evening.

Papertake Weekly challenge - Stitch in time... AND Cute card Thursday BRIGHT COLOURS

This card I've enjoyed making immensely as the image I've used was very kindly sent to me by Karen
along with some others. I'm not sure which collection they're from but I like them.

For Papertake challenge some kind of stitching- real or faux should be used, I've done both and CCT challenge is bright colours as you can see. The front of card is slightly shorter to show a little strip on the right. I have not bought any paper as the ones used are from one of the latest free downloads from Papercraft inspirations website. I do do love freebies!!!
I love my waterproof thin liner pen, perfect for accenting that I like to do as you can see. 4U sentiment is done on my new Cuttlebug. I do really need to get the embossing folders everyone are using. A paper flower centered with a gem in her hand, with some knotted pink ribbon, watercoloured image, two pink gems for her pony tails and last of all do you think it is BRIGHT enough and does it have enough detailed stitching on it.....:)

Terria is giving some jubbly candy. Go check it out! :)

ABC Challenge 'F for Fairies' AND Ribbon card for Kerry

This is my first card using Stazon on acetate. I'm quite pleased - the sentiment is from one of QVC's kits, same with the ribbon, blue swirly background paper from one of the free downloads off Papercraft Insirations, just glitter glued with silver for bling. Flower from a cheap shop, fairy image sitting on a lily pad is from ages ago off a t.v. mail order shop which is no more ( came in a set of 6) -not used it much. Watercoloured her and added crystal dust to wings, one silver gem on lily pad and three co-ordinating ones in right corner of acetate which has been rounded. There you go!

Sorry about quality of pic. Hope you like! :)

Tilda & Co Challenge 32 ' Cold as Ice'

My first try at this challenge. I just love this image. The challenge is to keep within the blue and white colours.

The paper is from Do-Crafts website free download (spots and swirls 2007) which I thought was perfect for this challenge accented with black pen. The plain blue from own stash, cut against a stencil to give that sharp image, the sentiment is part of the download, sitting Tingla just kept her to a minmum with the watercolouring to give that cold feeling, glittered her wings and hair with crystal dust, decoupaged her soother, punched using my x cut 5 snowflakes out of thin card, covered with pva and crystal dust . Blue mini brads to finsh off.

Hope it's okay. :)
Over at manus-werelstube is some grat candy but only till sunday

Paper Take Weekly Katherina's Sketch # 9 and Sarah Kay Challenge 7 'How Charming' Here again I've combined a sketch with an image challenge.
The sketch is as you see it but Sarah Kay wanted cards with a charm, pendant, sometning dangly etc.

So, the papers are all from Papercraft Inspirations free downloads which I have accented with my black waterproof liner pen, butterfly charm from my daughters old belt, through some dotty grosgrain ribbon from one of my old QVC kits, image stamped using Stazon then watercolourd, and backed on some silver mirri board, raised with foam pads, the sentiment is from Karen's blog as a freebie, ( I've accented using my pen) they are round and a brilliant idea, finished off with
a silver butterfly sticky gem from old kit (QVC) raised with pads. I think I've done well considering I've used freebies. What do you think?

Hope you like for now, more tomorrow :)

Cute Card Thursday "soft furnishings" Challenge 23 and Trina's Blog Candy Sketch

This Magnolia - Tingla sitting stamp couldn't stay in it's wrapping much longer. I've combined this card with two challenges. Over at CCT you can make a card using anything resembling soft furnishings i.e stitching, laces, buttons, crotchet. Here's my contribution. And at Trina's Timeless Treasures there is a blog candy sketch which I've managed to do as well in this card. She is giving away a massive blog candy.

Compared to some of my other cards I've gone a bit pastely with this one, much softer I think. The stripey pink backing paper is from QVC, Lilac paper from own stash. Machine stitched all the way round, accented papers with gold pen. The lilac, lacey ribbon was kindly given to me some time ago by a relative ( it's pretty, i've used it on other cards in the past) sentiment is raised with foam pads, buttons from create & craft, crotchet flower which arrived from a win together with the stamp. I've used Stazon which I managed to get into town for for the image, watercolourd, added crystal dust on her wings and Anita's 3-D clear gloss finish on her soother which you can't see on the picture too well. Raised the image with foam pads. I think that's everything.

That's all for now.... Is it lovely jubbly or not?
To be in with a chance of winning a big Magnolia stamp giveaway go to Inger Marie's.

I've put my machining skills to the test as I've never machined on card. Well what do you think?

Sarah Kay week 6 Sketch Challenge

The papers behind the image are from a mixture of blog candies I won. Image is heat embossed as I don't have the stazon one at the moment. It's watercoloured and onto oval gold mirri board, three green sequins, purple brads in all corners and a really fancy purple lacey ribbon which I've doubled and stapled under the main image. And yes a gold gel pen for enhancing the background papers and lastly a flat backed 'love' sentiment.

These two cards came with the blog candies I received. Aren't they just gorgeous?

And... this is what the postie came with this morning.
I can't wait to play with this new stamp and goodies.
Thankyou to Elina.

Papertake Weekly Challenge "Button It"

I thought the big red button was appropriate for this cupcake. Yummy!

The green is HOTP 5203 Friendship papers, same again with the stripes and the blue dotty , the blue background is from a cheap shop in town, cupcake is pieced from a template off the Papercraft Inspirations Issue 50. The creamy icing is made from handmade paper, paper flowers with brads, accented all the pieces with a thin pigment liner pen. Sentiment is from cuttlebug dies (baby face alphabet) and a RED button for the cherry on top! Hope you like :)

I'm hoping to do some machine stitching on a few cards after looking around on the wonderful inspirational blogs :)) It must be the 'in' thing!

Here it is, Acetate Wedding Card and it will go to the Happy Couple this weekend.

The braid I picked up from a cheap haberdashery shop at 25p a metre but because it was end roll he gave the rest of it free, i'd guess another metre and a half. It's stuck on using double sided tape which you cannot see on the other side . The topper wedding cake I made myself out of handmade paper pieced together with three flat backed pearls and a bit of gold glitter glue, lifted with foam squares onto a piece of pink blank card then onto gold mirri board, withe a peel-off sentiment. This is again lifted with foam suqares on to the acetate which is rounded at the edges.

The inside...

which is the same process as the front with a peel-off sentiment as I don't have appropriate stamp to do this. To me it still looks great!

A close-up of the front. I would have liked a clearer image but the flash on the camera sends everything white when i get too close. I have to learn how to trim my photos which is probably something I'll have to do a dozen times as technology and me don't go together very well :(

Any way any comments welcomed but the main thing is , when I saw that braid in the shop and I new there was this one card I was going to make ,I just knew It would fit well.

Well .... drum roll please.....here it is

It is so beautiful, I couldn't let this stamp just sit around!!!
I definately need practice with the watercolouring. (I like to criticise my own work) but i wanted to do something with browns and pinks.
I've used Vintage papers from a kit off QVC, accented with waterproof pigment liner pen and also used my cheap scallop scissors which I think have had their use now.

I heat embossed My Sweet Lili Sarah Kay stamp with Black Versacolour pigment ink, and watercoloured her with ordinary watercolour pencils. Embellished with pink buttons from an old Create and Craft kit and thread from own stash, cerise ribbon from an old QVC kit, sentiment is heat embossed using Melissa Frances Crystal Clear Stamps. Overall I've dusted with brown chalk and edged it also. Hope you like :) and I am open to ideas to do it differently.

This sketch is for the Raspberry Ribbons Blog and anything else it will go with but I'm not sure there is anything left. I might just be too late. :(

Maybe not ABC Challenge E is for Embelishments fits this card perfectly as I'v got a button, then another and two more, Threads from my husbands work that I scrupliously saved when we shut business (he didn't want me to as he saw it as throwaway material), and last of all some posh ribbon! Hope you likey :)

This Thursday- Challenge 8 Bowdacious fits with this card as lon as you have aribbon and bow. I hope that's okay :)

My first ever sketch card for Michelle's Blogoversary Part1 .I still think I have time to enter.

The background paper is from town (cheap shop),green from HOTP-5203 Friendship, blue small dots and stripe paper from the same. I have put the cupcake together using the template from PaperCraft Inspirations August Issue 50 and lifted with thin foam pads. I enjoyed that! I've accented round almost everything with a pen liner. Paper flowers with brads, button from own stash for the cherry. Used my Cuttlebug dies for the sentiment. Hope you like :)

The kids are on their summer hols and I can't believe how quick everything outdoors is blooming!!

This summer is proving well for garden and allotment growers and I am lucky my family share my passion in that sense. Children will always come out with "I thought that came from the supermarket". They are always astounded at how things grow.
